Ahmedabad Resident Defrauded of Rs 1 Crore in Matrimonial Site Crypto Scam: A Warning for All

The dangers of the internet are a constant threat in our fast-paced digital society. Kuldeep Patel, a software engineer from Ahmedabad, recently fell victim to a cryptocurrency scam on a matrimonial website. His story reminds us of the risks involved in online transactions and the importance of staying alert to tempting offers.

Patel’s troubles began innocently when he came across Banocoin, a cryptocurrency platform, while browsing a matrimonial site in June. Intrigued by the financial opportunities presented by a customer service representative, Patel decided to invest in ‘banocoin’. Little did he know that this seemingly harmless interaction would lead to a staggering loss of over Rs 1 crore.

Patel’s attention was caught by a woman named Aditi on the matrimonial site. Aditi, claiming to be involved in import-export business in the UK, lured Patel with promises of high returns through investments in ‘banocoin’. Eager to increase his income, Patel started investing large amounts, believing he had found a golden opportunity.

At first, Patel’s crypto account showed promising profits, with a gain of 78 USDT after his initial investment of Rs one lakh. This success boosted his confidence, leading him to commit a total of Rs 1.34 crore across 18 transactions. Unbeknownst to Patel, his investments were part of an elaborate and deceptive scheme.

In September, Patel tried to withdraw Rs 2.59 lakh from his account, only to find it frozen. The scammers demanded an additional Rs 35 lakh to unfreeze it, leaving Patel feeling deceived and desperate.

Desperate to recover his funds, Patel sought help from the Banocoin customer service representative, but received no resolution. With limited options, he reported the incident to the police on September 9, hoping for justice and accountability.

Investigations revealed that Patel had lost over Rs 1 crore. The scammer, Aditi, had exploited Patel’s trust on the matrimonial site, convincing him to invest large amounts in a fraudulent scheme.

Cryptocurrency scams have become more common, with unsuspecting individuals falling for promises of quick and significant returns. Patel’s story reminds us of the importance of caution and thorough research before investing, especially online.

Authorities urge the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to prevent further victims. It is crucial to verify the legitimacy of investment opportunities, seek advice from trusted financial advisors, and do proper research before investing.

Patel’s experience serves as a warning, emphasizing the dangers of the digital world. While recovering his lost funds may be difficult, Patel’s determination to seek justice is inspiring.

In conclusion, Kuldeep Patel’s case highlights the devastating consequences of falling victim to a cryptocurrency scam. It reminds us of the need for awareness and measures to combat fraud in the digital landscape. Let Patel’s unfortunate experience be a lesson, urging us to be cautious and well-informed in our financial endeavors. With vigilance and knowledge, we can protect ourselves and others from similar scams.
